Crisis distraction: finding inner peace

The past two years have undoubtedly not been easy. While the Corona crisis has faded into the background for the time being, the next crisis is already approaching with the war in Ukraine and its global consequences. This article is intended to provide a few ideas on how to distract oneself from the psychological pressure and constant tension. The key is to find your own inner peace.

Reduce media consumption

The main culprit of mental stress is the incessant barrage of news. When was the last time you read a positive or refreshing news story? A large part of the news has negative, dramatic or frightening content. This is deliberate, because bad news sells better than good news. Especially in the online world, every click counts. The headlines are deliberately worded in such a way that people open the article out of curiosity.

The first step is therefore: Less news. You can stay up to date even if you only read the news every 3-4 days or even once a week. How about a News-Monday after a relaxing weekend? Definitely not advisable is push news, where breaking news is sent directly to the screen of your cell phone.

If news, then look for sources that report rather factually and not luridly. Even if considerent "ancient technology", the news in the teletext of the TV, for example, are usually compact and limited to the essentials. They can also be read on the Internet (in Switzerland: www.teletext.ch).

Meditation

Meditating is about focusing, you put your attention on a thought, a sensation, emotion or simply your own breath. This doesn't need to be a special ritual, for the beginning you just do it the way it feels right for you. A quiet room and a comfortable sitting position are a good start. As long as the mind is calmed by it, the goal is fulfilled. Food

It should be known that balanced food is an important part of physical health. Fatty and industrial food should not be eaten regularly. How about trying a menu from a cookbook with fresh ingredients?
